Are we living in a simulation?

As we head into a more advanced tech future, virtual reality (VR) is getting more and more developed. Before we dive into VR, let’s differentiate between AR (Augmented reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) because people often get confused. AR lets the user experience the real world, which has been digitally augmented or enhanced in some way. VR, on the other hand, removes the user from that real-world experience, replacing it with a completely simulated one. Coming back to our topic, as we head into a more advanced tech world, VR is becoming more and more advanced in terms of graphics, experience and a lot more. Elon Musk says if we keep going even at 1/10th rate of our development of VR, at some point we will reach a peak where we won’t be able to distinguish between VR and base reality which raises a bigger question, are we living in a simulation, because if we are progressing at this rate, what are the chances another higher species already beat us to it and that we are actually in a simulation right now overseen by them. You won’t believe it but the chances of us being in base reality right now is around 1 in a billion, give or take. Its simple probability.
